Metaphor for healing

For most of my adult life I have been advocating the miraculous power of metaphor - and language generally - to transform many things: emotional state, achievement of goals, group and team performance, leadership effectiveness and health and wellbeing.

Over the past ten years it has not been easy to convince sceptics of this, despite overwhelming evidence and convincing independent research.  I have always felt that this should be self-evident to human  beings; but it is an idea that has become eroded by a educational system foicussed almost exclusively on the left hand side of our brains.

How refreshing, therefore, to hear a mainstream science programme led by a western qualified medical doctor explore and discover that metaphor has a powerful role to play in health, wellbeing and healing.

I have no idea how long BBC Radio 4 will keep this recording available on their web site but for the moment it can be heard on their Listen Again service.
